James Webb Telescope explained in 200 Words.

The James Webb is a space telescope designed primarily to conduct infrared astronomy. As the most powerful telescope ever launched into space, its greatly improved infrared ( the technology used in your TV remote ) resolution and sensitivity will allow it to view objects too old, distant, or faint for the Hubble Telescope ( previous generation telescope )

This would allow the study of light for distant, extremely faint galaxies that have already been identified in Hubble , as well as detecting even more distant galaxies that Hubble could’t find, as light from the most distant objects in the Universe is streched into infrared wavelengths.

Operating at infrared wavelengths that are not accessible from Earth, Webb is the only current facility capable of delivering unknown views of the universe at these wavelengths, which are expected to contain light from some of the first galaxies to have formed in the Universe as well as expectancy of life on other planets.

The earliest universe has until now been difficult to observe, but James Webb’s recent image shows the clearest image going back 13 billion years
Webb will touch on that other overarching goal, which is the study of planets outside our solar system.
